WHO'S INSIDE OF THE GREEN GHOST?

Although uncredited for his performance as "Slimer", Mark Bryan Wilson is the actor inside of the green ghost in the hit movie Ghostbusters.

The first B&W photo shows Slimer dumping a plate of food into his mouth. Where did the food, everything from lettuce to jello and gravy, end up? Why, down the back of Mark's neck, of course.

The second B&W photo shows Mark, as Slimer, on a spinner rig. Also on the rig is cable puppeteer Mark Siegel, while another puppeteer rotates the rig.

Originally conceived as a totally cable operated artifact, Slimer ultimately came to life in the form of a cable enhanced rubber suit worn by Mark who performed the arms and body movements. His legs extended below the suit and were draped in black velvet for maximum concealment. Up to eight other puppeters were needed to operate cables or rods for the more subtle facial expressions.

Richard Edlund's Boss Films Company created the creature and visual effects for Ghostbusters. Mark, as well as the other puppeteers, came from the creature crew, who also sculpted, fabricated, and constructed the mechanics of all the ghosts and terror dogs.
